August Update
Reflections on the first half of 2024!
Amazingly, it’s already August. “The Sunday of Summer”.
The Dog Days.
Kids are getting ready to go back to school, teachers are soaking in the last days of sanity, college dorms are bustling with activity again, football is in the air, the reality of no playoff baseball in Chicago is becoming reality.
Again.
Since our last update, we’ve had a few things going on here at Becky’s Warriors. Let’s jump in.

2024 Golf Outing
On Friday, June 28th, we hosted the annual Becky’s Warriors Golf Outing. Once again, we had a fantastic turnout with friends, old and new. The day was filled with exactly what we hoped for: an opportunity to honor our friend Becky and raise funds that will help Marian Catholic affiliated families who are battling cancer. Here is a link to all of the photos from the event (thank you, Facebook):

This year, we are thrilled to announce that we had our best fundraising event.
Period. Full stop.
Because of the support of so many partners and friends, we raised over $38,000.
We are so grateful of your support. Truly.
As a number of us reflected on the ten years since we started this organization, it’s remarkable what so many people have been able to accomplish.
We’ve helped dozens and dozens of families and individuals thanks to your kindness, your generosity. Thank you.
Plans are already underway for the 2025 Becky’s Warriors Golf Outing and we’re happy to say that we’ll be returning to Ruffled Feathers on Friday, July 11th.
If you’d like to learn more about sponsorship opportunities or if you’d like to help with the planning for next year’s event, please let any of the board members know.
Prayers and Swears
From the beginning of Becky’s Warriors, our goal has been and continues to be: support Marian Catholic families that are going through a cancer battle.
We do this to honor our friend Becky.
There are several families (that we are aware of) that could currently use your prayers:
- John Zarlengo (MCHS class of 2000) is battling.
- Missy (Bartolini) Farver (MCHS class of 2002) is battling.
- Sara Brantzi (MCHS class of 1995) is battling.
We also learned recently of some other friends and alums that are battling privately. We also know of a current student whose mom is fighting valiantly.
They are fighting.
Fighting like hell. Fighting through hell.
They could use all the love and support we can offer them and every ounce of prayer helps.
Please keep them in your thoughts.
